IR35 Contract Review

Did you know that 77% of Limited Company contractors haven't had their contract reviewed for IR35 compliance?

We carried out a survey on a sample of our clients and this is what we discovered. Whilst having your contract reviewed doesn't mean that HMRC won't look into your company's affairs, it will make it more difficult for them to impose fines or penalties.

 

IR35 status hinges around the contract and where this is strong and truly reflects the working practices HMRC would find it very difficult to say you are a ‘disguised employee' and therefore caught by the legislation. By having an independent contract review you are showing ‘due diligence'; that you have taken steps to look at your situation to ensure you are treating any subsequent income correctly. You can not then be penalised if, in HMRC's eyes, you get it wrong.

In this time I have been self employed, limited company, SC 60, and 714 certificated. With all of these ‘systems’ I have had many issues with the problems of invoices, payment, and the very time consuming process of accounting for my wages, tax payments, VAT , expenses etc. Over the years it has caused me a great deal of concern, time and worry that I did not need, especially when I was working away from home.
